Wondrous Weekend Stay in Winston-Salem - the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel






This past weekend, I had the pleasure of staying at the luxury boutique Kimpton Cardinal Hotel in Winston-Salem, NC. It had been a few years since my last visit to Winston-Salem, and this time, I was visiting Wake Forest University with my son. Wanting accommodations near the college, I chose IHG's boutique gem, the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel. After reading glowing reviews, I was eager to experience it for myself, and it did not disappoint.

Upon arrival, the front desk staff welcomed us warmly and attended to our needs promptly. A special mention goes to Kenya, who checked us in with a smile, and Dave, who handled our room request efficiently. Their friendliness and professionalism set the tone for our stay.

After a session in the fitness center, I picked up a delicious breakfast at the Katherine Brasserie & Bar to enjoy in my room. Both the food and service exceeded my expectations. Cynthia, our exceptional hostess, attended to me promptly and provided helpful directions to Wake Forest. 

The hotel boasts several hidden gems, including a well-equipped fitness center with weight machines, free weights, boxing bags, yoga mats, exercise bikes, treadmills, and ellipticals. The recreation room was even more impressive, featuring a half-sized regulation basketball court, a two-lane bowling alley complete with shoes, a pool table, arcade games, and several tall tables and stools for socializing.

Our accommodations were equally noteworthy. We stayed in a spacious one-bedroom suite with a pull-out sofa, a separate bedroom area with a king bed, a luxurious soaker tub, and a walk-in shower. The suite provided ample privacy for both me and my teenage son.

Moreover, the hotel is pet- and family-friendly, making it a perfect choice for travelers of all types. Located in downtown Winston-Salem, the hotel offers valet parking for added convenience.

My stay at the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting downtown Winston-Salem. The exceptional staff, luxurious accommodations, and fantastic amenities make it a standout choice for any traveler.

Vacationing in Virginia - Lansdowne Resort
