Vacationing in Virginia - Lansdowne Resort

During May 3rd-5th, 2024, my sorority sisters and I had a reunion weekend that was nothing short of magical. Some of us hadn't seen each other in over 30 years, and we traveled from several states to be together. We needed a place to relax, reconnect, and luxuriate—someplace where all amenities were in one place, and no one needed to drive. The Lansdowne Resort met all our requirements and often exceeded expectations.

Relaxation and Reconnection

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Lansdowne Resort was the perfect choice for our reunion. The resort offered a serene and picturesque setting on 500 acres overlooking the Potomac River Valley, just 30 miles outside Washington, D.C., and 12 miles from Dulles International Airport. The beautiful surroundings set the tone for a relaxing weekend where we could reconnect without a care in the world.

Staying On Track

I had just started a new workout and diet regimen, and I was thrilled that the resort had everything I needed to stay on track while still enjoying myself. The resort offers a buffet-style breakfast daily, with Wendy managing the omelet and waffle station. Wendy was fantastic—she kept the station moving smoothly and was so personable. There were options for every diet, whether vegan, vegetarian, health-conscious, or for those wanting to splurge. The waitstaff was attentive, ensuring all guests' wants and desires were met.

Fitness and Wellness

The resort's top-notch fitness facilities feature an indoor pool, a full-service gym with training equipment, a yoga room, and spin classes. As a novice, I wanted to explore some workout equipment but needed assistance. Claudio, who managed the fitness center, was a gem. He patiently walked me through how to use each piece of equipment and shared information about the group classes available. I had a great workout and learned about better equipment in the gym—thank you, Claudio!

Spa Experience

Spa Minerale at the resort is one of the best spas I've ever experienced. I indulged in the herbal detox massage with hand and foot rejuvenation, which was splendid. The service was outstanding, with staff attentive to every need and wish. The facility can accommodate groups and couples, with 12 individual treatment rooms and two couples rooms, making it feel intimate and personalized. I highly recommend it.

Dining Delights

We dined at the Piedmont for our last dinner and enjoyed a fabulous meal. Our waiter, Chacko, was exceptional. Not only did he ensure each guest received exactly what they desired, but he also helped us preserve our memories of the event with some fantastic photos. Chacko made us feel like we were the only guests at the venue that night. We all truly appreciated his kindness and attentiveness.

Planning Perfection

Riza, the reservation manager, was fabulous. As a travel advisor, Riza was my point of contact when planning the weekend. We had multiple rooms and guests and many changes to the reservation and plans before finalizing everything. She ensured our weekend went smoothly, and her meticulous planning made all the difference.

Room for Improvement

The one area that could use improvement is Coton & Rye, which is open to the public. It has a casual vibe with lively music, but the service and food could have been better. Despite a couple of entrees being returned, this did not dampen our overall impression of the resort.

Final Thoughts

Lansdowne Resort provided a perfect setting for our sorority reunion. The luxurious amenities, excellent service, and beautiful surroundings made our weekend unforgettable. Lansdowne Resort is an excellent choice whether you're looking for a place to relax, stay active, or enjoy time with loved ones.
