Aesthetically Charming - AC Hotel Raleigh North Hills

June 22, 2024, after a long day helping my family move from Northern VA to the Raleigh/Durham area, my teenage son and I needed a place to crash. We arrived at the AC Hotel Raleigh North Hills around midnight, greeted by a bustling scene with cars coming and going, courtesy of the valet service catering to both the hotel and nearby hotspots like the Capital Grill.

Despite the late hour and the busy front, our check-in was smooth and efficient. The AC Hotel impressed me with its chic, new, modern aesthetic. While I'm a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member, usually opting for premium brands like The Renaissance or Westin, this was my first stay at an AC Hotel. We only needed one night and wanted something comfortable and reasonably priced. The AC Hotel did not disappoint.

The hotel's design is simplistic yet elegant, catering perfectly to essential travel needs. My room was a model of efficiency and style, with everything conveniently placed. The layout included a bed, sink, and bathroom all in one space, with a sliding door separating the shower and toilet. The decor was modern and chic, living up to Marriott's high standards. The room was spotless, and thoughtful amenities like complimentary water and a makeup remover were provided.

One of the highlights was the shower – a circular head with a handheld accessory provided an excellent, hot shower, which was much needed after a tiring day. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the ample pillows were just to my liking. The room had all the essentials in a compact, stylish design, including a refrigerator, safe, blow-dryer, iron, and ironing board.

Pros:

  • Reasonably priced for the location
  • Modern, elegant, yet simplistic style
  • Convenient to restaurants and bars
  • Great for single travelers, couples, and friend groups

Cons:

  • Valet parking required ($30 for overnight)

Overall, our stay at the AC Hotel Raleigh North Hills was a pleasant surprise. It offered the comfort and quality I've come to expect from Marriott, all at a reasonable price. If you're ever in the Raleigh/Durham area and need a stylish, comfortable place to stay, I highly recommend trying the AC Hotel.
